Allies Welcome - Naim’s Story

As part of our effort to support Afghan allies entering America, we worked with our clients at Soldiers’ Angels to highlight the stories of those impacted. In this series, “Allies Welcome,” Soldiers’ Angels interviewed Naim, an Afghan who recently entered the United States. His story is equal parts horror and bravery. Speaking about his family’s attempt at reaching the airport to evacuate, he recounted:

“It was very difficult and very significant for me. Because embassy called me, my visa was issued, to come to the embassy, but suddenly, everything collapsed to the hand of Taliban. We couldn’t able to get to the embassy because it got closed. And then while we were getting to the airport, it was very tough ‘cause all the routes were surrounded by Taliban. Everybody rushed to the airport and it was like heavy traffic of people, and I was scared if my children get… like… there was lots of children that died— people stepped on them. It was very, very tough and I couldn’t explain it in words.”

At Evocati, we’re working tirelessly to support our clients who have stepped up to help refugees like Naim. We must welcome Afghan refugees into our communities not because they are American, but because we all are Americans— we have a moral obligation to help those who helped us.
