Washington, D.C. - Evocati and The Washington Center (TWC) have renewed their partnership to design a professional development curriculum for twenty student veterans interning in Washington, D.C. as part of TWC’s Veteran Employment Trajectory (VET) Initiative.
The VET Initiative is a nine-week professional immersion program hosted by TWC and supported by Prudential where student veterans are matched with an internship that fits their career goals. The cohort also receives classroom instruction that focuses on workforce preparedness like resume writing, personal branding, job interviewing, networking and job search skills. TWC partnered with Evocati to design, facilitate, and present the classroom curriculum. In addition to the workforce development expertise Evocati offers, its President and Founder, Barrett Y. Bogue will serve as faculty advisor to program participants.
“We are delighted to offer our support to TWC this year. This renewed partnership with TWC represents an opportunity to build on the success we had starting in 2019,” said Barrett Y. Bogue, President and Founder at Evocati. “In a rapidly changing job market due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re ready to deliver a world-class experience for these students so they can enter the workforce as a valuable asset.”
This renewal comes on the heels of their successful partnership in 2020 which saw a significant improvement in learning outcomes. Upon completing the TWC VET Initiative, 100 percent percent felt they could translate their military skills; 100 percent felt confident they would be welcomed into the civilian workforce; and 100 percent knew what military attributes will make them successful in the workplace.
“We are excited to implement the Summer 2021 VET Initiative with Evocati through our continued partnership. We are committed to providing a parallel experience to this year’s program cohort and equipping them with competitive skills, tools and resources in order to navigate and succeed in this challenging job market,” said Jung Ran Lim, Vice President at TWC.
This year’s VET Initiative curriculum will be conducted as a hybrid with cohort members choosing to participate remotely or in-person due to the coronavirus pandemic and following CDC’s guidelines restricting travel and group gatherings. Participants will work at remote or in-person internship sites and represent some of the highest performing students in higher education with an average GPA of 3.5 (out of four) majoring in disciplines like international relations, computer science, public administration, criminology, and business management. The VET Initiative will take place from June through August 2021.
