Washington, D.C. - Evocati announced the successful conclusion to their partnership with The Washington Center (TWC) today. In March 2021, Evocati and TWC renewed their partnership to design a professional development curriculum for 17 student veterans interning in Washington, D.C. as part of TWC’s Veteran Employment Trajectory (VET) Initiative. This was the third consecutive year Evocati has supported TWC.
The VET Initiative was a nine-week professional immersion program, hosted by TWC and supported by Prudential Financial, where student veterans were matched with internship opportunities at leading organizations like The American Legion, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. House Committee on Veterans Affairs.
To support their transition into the civilian workforce, the cohort took part in an online professional advancement colloquium that included a self-assessment and exploration of their professional identity, career path investigation and understanding employability, and how to successfully enter the civilian workforce. The skills gained included resume writing, personal branding, job interviewing, networking, and job searching.
TWC partnered with Evocati to design, facilitate, and present the classroom curriculum as the nation’s only veteran-led business that specializes in supporting clients who want to improve their investment in the military-connected community. Evocati invited representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Amazon, HillVets, Student Veterans of America, and Service to School to participate in the program with the cohort.
“The Washington Center’s VET Initiative is the standard by which any organization that wants to grow their impact in the military-connected through cohort-based training should model,” said Barrett Y. Bogue, Evocati’s president and founder. “We were honored to offer our unique expertise to help TWC and Prudential Financial research, market, and grow their impact in the military-connected community for the third consecutive year.”
Mr. Bogue returned as Faculty Advisor for the third consecutive year and proctored a redesigned hybrid curriculum. The 2021 cohort reported a significant improvement in learning outcomes made possible by Evocati’s support. In a post-program survey, every cohort member said they:
Achieved a greater understanding of their career preferences
Gained the skills that will be beneficial to their future professional development
Understood how to increase their value and ability to market themselves in the civilian workforce
Reported having a resume they felt comfortable sending to employers
This continued success would not have been possible without the support provided by Prudential Financial which in 2017 partnered with TWC to launch the VET Initiative to support its mission to reduce barriers to financial and social mobility for underserved populations.
“Since inception, The Washington Center VET Initiative has bridged gaps between, academia, government, business and military experience from a Veterans perspective,” said Jim Beamesderfer, vice president, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial. “Evocati has played a key role in the continued evolution and improvement of this program and its delivery to the students.”
