Washington, D.C. - Evocati announced its support for Lutheran Social Services today in response to the horrific events unfolding in Afghanistan. Lutheran Social Services (LSSNCA)  is a nonprofit that operates in the National Capital Area that supports the Afghan diaspora by providing relocation assistance to displaced families. Support includes transporting families arriving in the U.S., providing temporary housing, and leading refugee resettlement efforts.

“While Afghanistan burns and our political class point fingers, America’s military-connected community has an opportunity to demonstrate our profound capacity to serve others,” said Barrett Y. Bogue president and founder of Evocati. “As a combat veteran, I am appalled by the failure to adequately support our Afghan allies in their most desperate time of need. But all is not lost. We can and should find ways to help. At Evocati, we’re providing financial support to those who can support fleeing Afghans the best. I encourage all veteran-serving nonprofits and veteran-owned businesses to do the same.”

LSSNCA expects at least 2,500 people to arrive in the Northern Virginia and Maryland areas in the next six weeks, although that number is likely to change as events in Afghanistan are fluid.

“Afghan Allies have begun arriving at Fort Lee, Virginia, and LSSNCA is grateful to play a leading role in welcoming them to our community.  As evacuation of our allies before the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan on September 11 is critical to ensure their safety, LSSNCA is mobilizing its community supporters to be a part of this historic welcome of 2,500 individuals in less than six weeks! We need your time, talents, and gifts to help provide transportation, housing, and other basic needs to our new neighbors, many of whom have received just a few days’ notice of their departure to the United States.”

Evocati chose to support LSSNCA based on recommendations from military-connected allies and local proximity to where it conducts business. Click here to learn more.
