FOSTERING NEW PARTNERSHIPS & CRISIS PUBLIC RELATIONS TO HELP AFGHAN ALLIES
Brief
Soldiers’ Angels and Evocati PR worked tirelessly in August and September 2021 to respond to an urgent need for Afghan allies. This included media pitching, content creation, new program execution, crafting compelling stories, and facilitating critical partnerships and community engagement opportunities.
Challenge
After the fall of Kabul in August 2021, Soldiers’ Angels was inundated with urgent requests for evacuation assistance from fleeing Afghans and similar requests by military leaders for care support for refugees arriving at military installations in the United States. This unplanned crisis demanded a complete and full response by Evocati PR while maintaining its existing commitments to its client.
Strategy
Evocati PR was tasked with executing a national call to action campaign for Soldiers’ Angels to successfully raise funds to support Aghan refugees, identify relevant community partners to support their effort, and to ensure senior executives were part of the national dialogue around the United States’ commitment to supporting refugees.
Results
Evocati PR successfully responded to an urgent fundraising and PR need in response to the U.S. withdrawal of Afghanistan. This included assisting with evacuation support for refugees, featuring volunteer support for refugees, coalition building through facilitating a partnership with Welcome US, and internal and external marketing to raise funds in less than two weeks. Donations totaled $84K and in-kind donations raised were $40K—the Afghanistan Support campaign was the highest grossing online fundraiser in Soldiers’ Angels’ history.
