Honoring Those Who Served – A Reflection on POW/MIA Recognition Day

Understanding the significance of this day + why it’s vital we always honor and remember them.

Introduction

Every year, on the third Friday of September, we recognize and remember the sacrifices of the brave men and women who have been prisoners of war (POW) or declared missing in action (MIA). Established in 1986, this day marks an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of those who served our nation and their enduring families.

POW and MIA are not just military jargon. Behind these terms are the stories of real service members.

A POW is a service member who was captured and held by an enemy during armed conflict. MIA refers to a service member who is unaccounted for, and whose whereabouts remain unknown.

About This Important Day

POW/MIA Recognition Day is a time for us all to unite under that flag to honor the memory of our courageous heroes, some of whose fate still remains a mystery to their families.

At Evocati PR, their spirits live on in our hearts as we recognize the sacrifices they have made.

Our nation remains strong because of the bravery of these men and women, and it is our obligation to carry their courage and memory with us always. May they be found; may they all return home.
