My First Potato Expo

A Perspective by Evocati PR’s PR Apprentice

Last week brought a lot of firsts for me.

It was my first time in #Denver, my first time meeting the Evocati team in person, and my first #PotatoExpo.

2023's Expo was phenomenal. It was record-setting in attendance for all non-Las Vegas Expos. The first ever #ThisSpud'sForYou celebrity chef cookoff that featured Ted Allen, Duff Goldman, and Simon Majumdar, all of Food Network fame.

This could not have been a better introduction to the world of potatoes. The growers, exhibitors, and visitors were all incredibly professional and friendly. The event ran as smoothly as anyone could ever ask for.

From my Public Relations perspective, I learned an immense amount (I think I might have forgotten half of it already!). Event planning strategies, client and media relations, the flexible nature of the industry, the intricacies of planning and executing across social media platforms, in-person events, and much more.

The behind-the-scenes work for an event of this magnitude is remarkable. With what seems like an infinite number of moving pieces, to have everything come together so seamlessly it is easy to not see the work that was put in. You're only supposed to notice when event planning goes wrong, when it goes right, it is invisible.

I have always loved potatoes, but this event increased that tenfold. The only thing better than enjoying potatoes is enjoying potatoes after experiencing how incredible the community and industry are.

Thank you NPC for putting on such an amazing event and exposing me to the world I did not know I was missing out so heavily on. See you in #Austin on January 10th!
