Celebrating Black History Month: Revisiting Our Work with Fayetteville State University

For 48 years, Americans have taken the month of February to observe Black History Month. Celebrating black history, culture, and the contributions of black people across the nation and globe

Evocati PR prides itself on its unique mission: PR with a Purpose and supporting underserved communities. With that mission in mind, we want to reflect on our work with Fayetteville State University (FSU), a top HBCU for military-connected students, and a former Evocati PR client.

FSU and Evocati PR worked together in 2022 to showcase the institution as a leading HBCU for military-connected students through a new initiative: free tuition to qualifying military-connected students.

"As a veteran and father of two biracial children, nothing brings more pride than looking back on what we accomplished for FSU and Bronco Nation," said Barrett Y. Bogue, President & Founder of Evocati PR. "As we continue to honor the contributions of Black Americans, let's not forget the powerful example FSU has set as a leader in advancing educational opportunities for underserved communities."

Through this partnership and our work, FSU garnered 200 million earned and social media impressions in six months and was featured in The Washington Post, Military Times, and more.

The response to this landmark initiative was extraordinary. FSU received over 600 new applications for the scholarship in less than sixty days and announced its largest overall enrollment in over 20 years in Fall 2022 while surpassing its previous record of enrolled military-connected students to over 2,000.

Today, FSU is a leading HBCU and continues to uniquely serve black and military-connected students.

We still celebrate this win two years later in honor of Black History Month.
