A Day to Reflect, Honor, and Remember
On April 9, the Lone Eagle Honor Flight brought 42 veterans to Washington, D.C., for a profound experience. Sponsored by Louisville-based PDS Optical, a service-disabled, veteran-owned business, these World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans visited memorials dedicated to their service.
Two veterans traveled all the way from Hawaii, and one was an impressive 98 years old. They shared stories, paid their respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during a wreath-laying ceremony, and reflected on the history they helped shape.
For many, this day was not only a moment to honor their service but also an opportunity to connect with fellow veterans and celebrate the spirit of camaraderie.

PDS Optical has long championed veterans through their work as a leading provider of high-quality eyewear to veterans in the VA healthcare system. This year, they took their dedication a step further by sponsoring the Lone Eagle Honor Flight, ensuring our nation's heroes had the chance to witness the recognition and gratitude they deserve.
Sean Loosen, President and CEO of PDS Optical and a U.S. Army veteran, accompanied the veterans throughout the trip, together with other PDS Optical employees who volunteered as "guardians." Loosen noted, "Their service is what inspired me to join the Army and continue to serve the military-connected community at PDS Optical after my transition. Our core values of pride, dignity, and service drive everything we do.”
This partnership with Honor Flight Network is more than an event sponsorship; it’s a reflection of PDS Optical's unwavering commitment to supporting underserved veteran communities.
PR With a Purpose
The event also offered an opportunity to share these powerful stories with the public. Thanks to the creativity and dedication of our own team, local media captured interviews with PDS Optical employees, raising awareness about the Honor Flight Network and its impact.
